This is one of four areas I have growing tea. It is all cleaned up and the new spring buds are just starting to swell and burst forth. This is the time of the year I pull briers and weeds and just ignore them the rest of the year. I need to make tea soon as I have several large groups (and a couple cancellations due to COVID-19 fears) and activities scheduled toward the end of the month. I am seeing, this year as every year, the shade grown gardens are ahead of the sunny fields in new growth. I still think sun grown tea is better but there are those that disagree with that.
I just hate selling out of tea this year. It has never happened before. I have had to put a “NO TOURS TODAY” sign on my driveway to discourage drive ups. I certainly do not like turning people away, but I have been getting a drive up tour almost everyday. All that will change soon with the coming soon tea harvest. Plan to come and enjoy the first flush!
